In game one the FC BARCELONA celebrated a 3-0 shutout after another brilliant gem by Homer Baez. The Venezuelan starter struck out twelve in nine scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and two walks. Emmanuel Febles, Felix Isasi and Jehan Machado scored the three runs. PAMPLONA’s Alexis Fumero had a nice game for himself on the mound, striking out eight in eight innings, conceding three hits, three runs (1 ER) and two bb.

After the pitcher’s duel on Saturday, the 110 people at the ballpark in Montjuic, Barcelona saw BARCA scoring five runs in the first two frames on Sunday on their way to a 10-4 victory. Felix Isasi went three-for-four with four runs scored and a RBI. Jorge Miqueleiz drove in three. Juan Manuel Salazar had four hits for the home team. Jose San Martin had two RBI for CD. Pedro Belmonte (W 3-0) was responsible for two runs on seven hits in five innings, striking out three. Ekaitz Ezpeleta (L 0-2) took the loss, being charged with four hits, five runs and four bb in 1 2/3 innings.

Leslie Nacar (W 4-0) threw a two-hit complete game shutout to lead the MARLINS to a 13-0 win in game one of their matchup in NAVARRA. He had a no-hitter going through the first five innings and gave up a double in the sixth and a single one frame later. He had hit the first batter he saw with a pitch. Nestor Perez led the offense with three hits, two doubles, two runs scored and two RBI. Juan Jose Lopez (L 0-3) allowed eight hits, eight runs (5 ER) and a walk in five innings.

In game two, the MARLINS needed until the seventh to bring runs on the board. A RBI single by Juan Macias broke the scoreless tie. Richard Montiel followed moments later with a two-run single. The latter also scored the fourth run of the 4-0 win in the ninth on an error. Ivan Granados (W 3-0) struck out 13 in a complete game shutout, allowing just five hits and three walks. Diego Armando Perez (NAV) surrendered just six hits and two bb in six scoreless innings. Juan Miguel Marte took the loss.

EL LLANO needed to score three runs in the last three frames to hold VALENCIA down 6-4. Roberto Noriega put the team in front with a RBI double in the seventh. In the ninth they added two insurance runs on a pair of errors. The ASTROS rallied in the bottom of the frame and cut the deficit to two runs on a RBI single by Alberto Orti. But with runners on the corners and one out they didn’t came through to tie the contest. Juan De Leon (W 2-1) pitched the complete game to pick up the win. Norman Nelson Cowes (AST) started and pitched six solid innings, before Elvis Polanco (L 0-3) took the loss in relief.

In the second match EL LLANO nearly blew a 4-0 lead late in the game, but prevailed thanks to six runs in the ninth in a 10-5 slugfest. Emilio Perez homered and drove in two. Jose Rafael Morales also got two RBI. Roberto Noriega went three-for-five with a double, two runs scored and a RBI. Elvis Polanco and Edward Vazquez each drove in two for the ASTROS. Eric Frank Cowes went three-for-three with two walks and two runs scored. Ruben Fente (W 3-1) struck out seven in six scoreless innings, allowing five hits and four walks. Luis Garcia (L 0-2) took the loss after giving up eight hits, four runs and three bb in five innings.

Halcones de Vigo – San Inazio Bilbao 3-2 (15), 1-7

HALCONES won a 15-inning marathon on Sunday against SAN INAZIO. Jose Antonio Acevedo brought Marco Marques over the plate with a sac fly to end the game in walk off style. Marques had reached on a fielding error by BILBAO’s second baseman Jose Eduardo Acosta. SAN INAZIO had forced extra innings through a RBI double by Dirimo Chavez and a RBI single by Kelvim Marianucci with no outs in the ninth. Ronny Malave (VIG) dominated through eight innings, allowing just a fourth-inning single, while striking out eight. Jose Gabriel Mendez (W 1-1) received the win, Andoni Ortiz (L 0-2) the loss.

In the second game SAN INAZIO got payback scoring four runs in the third en route to a 7-1 win and the split in the doubleheader. Franklin Tua had two hits, including a double and drove in two. Seven different players scored. Alberto Magallon (W 3-1) struck out six in a complete game victory. He allowed one unearned run on five hits. Jose Antonio Romero (L 1-1) gave up five hits, four runs and six bb in six innings.

CB Sant Boi – CB Viladecans 1-5, 7-1

Delio Miguel Martinez (W 2-0) led VILADECANS to a 5-1 win against SANT BOI in game one of the Catalonian derby. He went the distance and allowed just one unearned run on seven hits and two bb. He had to wait until the seventh inning to receive run support, when David Porcar singled and two runs scored, as CB’s shortstop Rafael Rivas made a throwing error. After SANT BOI cut the deficit in a half in the eighth, VILADECANS added three more runs in the ninth to seal the win. Oscar Alvarez (L 3-2) struck out eight in eight innings to take the loss. He was responsible for four hits, two runs (1 ER) and two bb.

SANT BOI scored five runs in the fourth in a 7-1 victory in game two of the twin bill on Sunday. Yaeko Vazquez and William Domero combined to drive in five runs. Jose Luis Riera and Marc Carrillo each scored twice. Jose Estebin Cruz (W 5-0) struck out eight in eight innings for his league-leading fifth win of the season. He allowed just two hits, one unearned run and two walks. Pol Llopis (L 1-2) was charged with nine hits, five unearned runs and two bb in six innings.
