UGF Bologna scored four runs between the fourth and the sixth to beat Telemarket Rimini 5-2 on Thursday evening in the Italian Baseball League. A double play groundball by Juan Carlos Infante broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the fifth. RBI singles by Joe Mazzuca and Livinsto Santaniello made it a three-run game in the sixth. Filippo Crociati had evened the score twice for the Pirates, scoring on singles by Jack Santora and Giuseppe Spinelli. Jesus Matos (W) won the duel on the mound, allowing two unearned runs on four hits and a walk in seven innings. Jim Brower (L) gave up nine hits, four runs and a bb in five-plus innings.

Gabriele Ermini saved Grosseto from an upset, driving in the winning run in the bottom of the tenth to lead his team to a 5-4 victory over the Warriors. The Orioles needed RBIs von Leonardo Mazzanti and Ermini in the seventh and eighth to erase a 2-4 deficit and to force extra innings. Mario Pesce drove in two for Catania. Juan Figueroa (W) picked up the win after striking out eight in four strong relief innings. John Diaz had received the start for Montepaschi, allowing seven hits and three runs (2 ER) in six innings. Yorkin Ferreras (PAT) conceded nine hits, three runs (1 ER) and five bb in 6 2/3 innings. William Lucena took the loss.
