Recaps: Tenerife Marlins, FC Barcelona split in Division de Honor

Halcones de Vigo – CB Viladecans 1-2, 6-7

CB Viladecans stunned the hosting Halcones de Vigo in the Spanish Division de Honor, winning both games. In game one Carlos Luis Amaro (W 1-2) picked up his first win in Spain with seven strong innings. He allowed just three hits, a run and two walks to lead CB to a 2-1 victory. Viladecans scored both runs in the opening period. Jose Angel Navas (L 2-4) took the loss after nine innings, issuing five hits, two runs and six walks, while striking out eight.

In the second match Denny Nino delivered the 7-6 win with a solo homerun in the top of the ninth. He drove in three runs overall. Javier Monzon went 3-for-4 with three runs. Halcones had erased a 2-6 deficit with a four-run rally in the seventh. Marc Jodar (W 2-0) got the win in relief. Marcos Trillo (L 0-1) took the loss.

CB Sant Boi – CD Pamplona 9-3, 9-1

After losing four consecutive games, CB Sant Boi returned to the winning lane sweeping a two-game series against CD Pamplona. In game one the defending Division de Honor champion blew a close game wide open with five runs in the seventh and eighth on their way to a 9-3 win. Rafael Rivas drove in three. Eliezer Garcia (W 3-1) allowed three hits, three runs (2 ER) and seven bb in 5 2/3 innings. Daniel Matias struck out four in 3 1/3 innings of no-hit relief for the save. Alexis Fumero (L 1-5) surrendered eight hits, four runs and four walks in five innings.

In the second game Sant Boi cruised to an easy 9-1 win. Daniel Sanchez and Marc Carrillo combined for five RBI. Rafael Rivas crossed the plate three times. Lowin Sacramento (W 4-2) struck out nine in six innings, allowing six hits, a run and four bb. Alberto Casanellas (L 1-3) gave up eight hits, five runs and three walks in five innings.

Tenerife Marlins Puerto Cruz – FC Barcelona 10-2, 0-6

The Tenerife Marlins and the FC Barcelona settled for the split in their matchup in the Division de Honor this weekend. In game one Puerto Cruz came out swinging, scoring six runs in the first three innings en route to a 10-2 win. Richard Montiel drove in three. Ruben Rijkhof hit a homerun. Yoel Hernandez (W 3-2) went the distance, allowing six hits, two runs and four bb. Jason Friedman (L 1-1) lasted just 1 1/3 innings, getting charged with three runs on five hits.

In the second game the FC Barcelona won 6-0 behind a complete game shutout by Ricardo Hernandez (W 5-0). He allowed only three hits and five walks in nine scoreless innings, striking out twelve. Pau Sancho went 4-for-5 with a RBI. Felix Isasi and Oscar Angulo combined for four RBI. Miguel Rizo (L 3-1) gave up six runs on 13 hits and two walks in six innings.

Sevilla Red Sox – Astros Valencia 2-8, 0-6

The Astros Valencia moved into a tie for first place in the Division de Honor thanks to two wins against the Sevilla Red Sox. In the game one the Astros overcame an early 0-2 deficit in an 8-2 win. Sandel Cuevas hit a homerun and drove in two. Whitney Robinson-Pierce also picked up two RBI. Bobby Carrington (W 1-1) got his second start of the season, allowing six hits, two runs and a walk in six innings. He struck out nine. Diego Torres (L 0-2) allowed seven hits, four runs (2 ER) and four bb in six innings.

In the second game Sandel Cuevas (3 IP) and Pedro Pablo Belmonte (W 5-0, 6 IP) combined to allow just seven hits and a walk in a 6-0 shutout. Emili Lopez (L 0-4) was responsible for seven hits, six runs (2 ER) and six bb in seven innings. He struck out seven.

Baseball Navarra – San Inazio Bilbao 2-3, 3-7

San Inazio Bilbao stunned Baseball Navarra with a sweep at Burlada. In game one Edward Adames, Kelvin Marianucci and Javier Flores scored for Bilbao, which used a ninth-inning run for a 3-2 win. Navarra tried to come back in the bottom of the ninth, but only managed a run on a steal of home. Jose Romero (W 4-2) struck out nine in 6 1/3 innings, allowing five hits, a run and two walks. Juan Jose Lopez (L 1-2) gave up seven hits, three runs and three bb in 8 2/3 innings. He struck out nine.

In the second game San Inazio took a 4-0 lead after five innings on its way to a 7-3 victory. Javier Flores and Tomas Alvarez picked up two RBI each. Adolfo Gonzalez hit a solo homerun for Navarra. Alberto Magallon (W 2-3) struck out seven in 6 2/3 innings, allowing six hits, two runs (1 ER) and a bb.
