The MARLINS stayed course and defeated EL LLANO 4-1 in game one this weekend in the Spanish Division de Honor. Leslie Nacar (W 10-0) struck out nine in a complete game, allowing just one run on eight hits and a walk. It was his tenth victory of the season. Luis Perez hit his second homer of the season, a two-run shot in the seventh.

In a game, which went back and forth between the two teams, TENERFIE needed three runs in the bottom of the eighth to prevail 10-8 against EL LLANO and to extend their undefeated winning streak to 22 games. Luis Perez hit a two-run homerun to put them up by two runs. They had tied the contest on an error. Daniel Martinez and Richard Montiel also homered for PUERTO CRUZ. Robert Noriega (3-5, 2 runs, 2 RBI) hit a homerun for the team from Gijon. Audie Nunez (W 2-0) received the win after three innings of relief. Gabriel Camino (L 0-3) took the loss. The starters Ivan Granados (MPC) and Elbis Avila (LLA) each gave up seven runs on ten hits in six innings.

Homer Baez (W 8-2) led BARCELONA to a 2-0 shutout with a complete game effort, allowing just five hits against SAN INAZIO. A RBI single by Jorge Miqueleiz in the second and a RBI double by Juan Manuel Salazar in the third was all they need to seal the win. Fidel Mane (L 4-3) gave up four hits, two runs and a walk in seven innings.

BARCA took a fast 3-1 lead after three innings and completed the sweep against BILBAO with a 5-2 win. Felix Isasi went three-for-four with a run scored. Oscar Roman, who returned from New Mexico, had two hits, a run and a RBI. Kelvin Marianucci had four hits and scored both runs for SAN INAZIO. Pedro Belmonte (W 9-0) pitched in and out of trouble and celebrated his ninth win of the season. He issued twelve hits, two runs (1 ER) and a walk in nine innings. Alberto Magallon (L 4-4) conceded ten hits, five runs (4 ER) and a bb in seven innings.

VILADECANS took a 6-1 lead thru five innings and later was able to stop a rally by NAVARRA in a 7-5 win. Oscar Angulo and Juan Fernandez combined to drive in four. Arkaitz Ordoki had three hits, two runs and a RBI for the home team. Delio Martinez (W 7-1) surrendered eight hits, two runs and a walk in seven innings. Juan Jose Lopez (L 2-6) allowed 13 hits, seven runs (6 ER) and two bb in eight innings.

NAVARRA got payback in the second part of the twin bill, scoring four runs in the first en route to a 9-3 victory. Luis Villanueva crossed the plate three times. Victor Martinez and Luis Miguel Compres collected two RBI each. Juan Miguel Marte (W 3-3) picked up the win after 5 1/3 innings of three-hit relief. Starter Alberto Espanol had left after 3 2/3 innings, six hits, two runs and three bb. Pol Llopis (L 1-3) was removed from the game after two batters and no out in the second period. He had given up three hits, four runs (2 ER) and five bb until then.

Oscar Alvarez (W 8-3) allowed just three hits and a walk in eight innings to lead SANT BOI to a 10-0 shutout in eight innings in VALENCIA. He struck out ten for his eighth win of the season. The offense started in the fourth to put runs on the board and ended the contest with the ten-run rule through a six-run top of the eighth. William Domero (3 RBI) and Marc Carrillo homered. Carrillo later left with a fracture after a collision at home plate. Milko Jaramillo and Javier Jose Flores combined for four RBI. Edward Adames (L 0-2) conceded six hits, four runs and three bb in 4 2/3 innings.

SANT BOI regained the lead in the sixth through a RBI single by William Domero and a sac fly by Pedro Luis Peraza and blew the game wide open by adding seven more runs in the last three frames of a 10-1 romp. Like in game one, Domero, Milko Jaramillo and Javier Jose Flores accounted for seven of the ten RBI. Jaramillo hit a homerun. Jose Estebin Cruz (W 9-1) surrendered six hits, a run and a walk in a complete game victory. Alberto Orti (L 0-2) allowed four hits, three runs (2 ER) and three bb in six innings.

Earlier this season in the Spanish Division de Honor, VIGO had some late-inning drama in their favor. Last weekend it was the other way around. PAMPLONA scored two runs in the top of the ninth on a pair of errors to win 2-1. HALCONES led since an early second-inning run. Patrice Briones (PAM) gave up seven hits, a run and two walks in 7 1/3 innings. Alexis Fumero (W 2-5) replaced him in the eighth and got the win. Ronny Malave (L 4-4) was responsible for two unearned runs on six hits and a bb in nine innings.

The second match of the series also was decided by a single run, but this time HALCONES had the better ending. They answered a three-run top of the fifth by three runs on their own and recaptured the lead in a 4-3 victory. Roman Carrasco tied the game with a two-run single and later score the winning run on an error. Juan Latienda hit a two-run single for PAMPLONA. Juan Jose Lopez (W 2-2) gave up six hits, three unearned runs and five bb in 8 1/3 innings. He struck out seven. Juan Redin (L 1-3) allowed seven hits, four runs (3 ER) and two walks in five innings.
