Posted on August 31, 2010 by philipp

Sundbyberg Heat – Leksand Lumberjacks 13-3 (8), 8-7

Sundbyberg Heat ended the semi-final hopes of the Leksand Lumberjacks on Saturday with a sweep in the doubleheader. The guests would have needed two wins to have an outside shot of passing Tranås for fourth place in the standings. In game one Sundbyberg scored six runs in the opening frame for an easy 13-3 win in eight innings. Will Rikard (4 runs) and Philip Gajzler hit homeruns. Rob Learned struck out ten in six solid innings for the win. In the second game the Heat blew a 6-2 lead after five innings to celebrate an 8-7 walk-off win in the ninth. Philip Gajzler and Joshua Gregory collected a combined six hits and six RBI. Dan Lassak drove in four for Leksand.

Stockholm – Karlskoga Bats 10-7, 6-11

Stockholm clinched first seed in the top-six standings of the Swedish Elitserien with a split against the Karlskoga Bats. In game one the reigning champion overcame a 0-7 deficit and won 10-7 after scoring seven runs in the eighth alone. Magnus Pilegård, Kevin Santiago and Bjoern Johannessen picked up two RBI each. Elias Soelveling drove in three for the Bats. In the part two of the twin bill Karlskoga nearly blew another big lead. But this time they were able to counter the Stockholm rally with five more runs in the seventh and eighth for an 11-6 win. Elias Soelveling went 4-for-5 with a run scored and a RBI. Bryce Enewold scored three times. Magnus Pilegård and Bjoern Johannessen combined for six hits and five RBI for Stockholm.

Goteborg – Tranås rained out

The doubleheader between Goteborg and Tranås was rained out on Saturday and will not be made up since the results have no effect on the standings anymore. Tranås is going to the semi-finals as the number-four seed, while Goteborg will finish in sixth place in the final standings.

This is also true for the remaining game of this round between Sundbyberg and Stockholm, which was rained out a few days ago and still is scheduled for Wednesday. However the Heat cannot improve its position in the standings. The semi-finals start on September 11.

Standings:

  1. Stockholm 18-5
  2. Karlskoga 17-7
  3. Sundbyberg 16-7
  4. Tranås 12-10
  5. Leksand 10-14
