Solingen Alligators – Dortmund Wanderers 6-7 (12), 11-0 (7)
The ALLIGATORS had to settle for a split against the WANDERERS last Thursday, as Trevor Howell led DORTMUND to a 7-6 win in game one. His first homerun in the ninth evened the score at 6-6. In the third extra inning he connected of reliever Dominik Wulf again and sealed the win for the third-place team. In the second match SOLINGEN used a seven-run third en route to an 11-0 shutout behind eleven strikeouts in seven three-hit innings by Enorbel Marquez-Ramirez.
Paderborn Untouchables – Pulheim Gophers 14-2 (7), 5-3
The UNTOUCHABLES profited from the split by SOLINGEN for a few days, reducing the gap towards first place in the northern standings with a sweep over the GOPHERS. In game one Octavio Medina reached four times and drove in five to lead PADERBORN to a 14-2 win. Julius Uelschen, Jendrick Speer and Gavin Ng combined to score nine of the 14 runs. In the second match they turned a 2-3 deficit around and won 5-3 thanks to 8 2/3 solid innings by Eugen Heilmann. He struck out seven, while allowing five hits, three runs (2 ER) and two bb.
Solingen Alligators – Bonn Capitals 11-1 (7), 3-2 (11)
The ALLIGATORS were host for another doubleheader on Sunday, defeating the CAPITALS in both ends of the twin bill. In game one Christian Nsien drove in four and Moritz Buttgereit scored three times in an 11-1 victory in seven innings. In the second match BONN missed out on the upset by a few outs. SOLINGEN needed a sac fly by Julian Steinberg and a RBI single by Florian Goetze in the ninth to tie the contest 2-2 and to force extra innings. In the eleventh Kim Eberhardt scored the game winner on a walk-off RBI single by Matt Pali.
Cologne Cardinals – Paderborn Untouchables 5-22, 4-1
The game, which PADERBORN gained on Thursday, was gone after the doubleheader three days later. The U’s prevailed 22-5 in game one against the CARDINALS due to two six-run innings, five RBI by Bjoern Schonlau and four runs scored by Octavio Medina. In the second match Kalev Betancourt picked up his fifth win of the year, allowing just one run on eleven hits and four walks in nine innings to lead COLOGNE to a 4-1 win. He struck out nine. Chris Balatico made his debut for PADERBORN in the doubleheader, playing right field in the first part of the doubleheader and taking the loss after three innings in the second.
Pulheim Gophers – HSV Stealers 8-11, 3-6 (10)
The STEALERS moved back to .500 with two important victories in PULHEIM. They are now two games up in fourth place. The HSV won a slugfest 11-8 in game one and completed the sweep with a 6-3 win in ten innings in the second part of the twin bill.
