Stade Toulousain – Savigny Lions 3-4, 11-17
The Savigny Lions won both games in the French Elite League against Stade Toulousain on Sunday. In game one a throwing error by the pitcher helped E. Deblanc to score the decisive run in the top of the seventh in a 4-3 victory. L. Aponte drove in two. C. Cooper (W 2-0) allowed five hits, three runs and a walk in eight strong innings for the win. D. Faccendi (L 1-1) took the loss. L. Cespedes (TOU) had issued seven hits, three runs (1 ER) and two bb in six innings.
In the second game the Lions out-slugged Toulouse 17-11. Six runs in the last two frames sealed the win. F. Peyrichou went 5-for-6 with a pair of triples and five runs scored. P. Lemestre picked up five RBI. F. Rouge and J. Mendoza combined for six RBI for the Tigers. C. Morel (W 1-0) received the win in relief. T. Dourlens (L 1-1) lasted just 2 1/3 innings to take the loss.
Templiers Senart – Pessac Panthers 23-1 (5), 13-3 (7)
The Templiers Senart dispatched the Pessac Panthers 23-1 and 13-3 on Sunday. In game one the Templiers scored eight runs in the second and ten in the third frame en route to a five-inning victory. D. Franklin, J. Brelle, F. Hanvi scored four runs apiece. Hanvi homered twice and drove in seven runs. M. Brelle (W 3-0) went five innings for his third win of the season. A. Leroy (L 0-3) took the loss after one-plus innings.
In the second match Senart scored nine runs in the first three frames in a seven-inning win. D. Franklin hit two homeruns and drove in four. F. Hanvi, K. Atkinson (5 RBI) and E. Martinez also went deep. A. Paturel (W 1-0) went the distance for his first win of the 2011 season. He gave up three runs (2 ER) on seven hits and a walk. M. Tyler (L 0-1) surrendered four hits, eight runs and five bb in 1 2/3 innings.
Montigny Cougars – Paris UC 8-10, 7-12
Paris UC celebrated its first sweep of the 2011 season, winning both ends of a twin bill in Montigny. In game one the Cougars overcame a 1-5 deficit in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings. With the IBAF Tiebreaker Rule in full effect PUC scored five runs in the top of the tenth en route to a 10-8 victory. W. Musson went 4-for-4 with five RBI. N. Ehrt scored three times for Montigny. Musson also was the starting pitcher for Paris, striking out 13 in nine innings. He allowed seven hits, five runs (1 ER) and a walk. S. Duchossoy (MON) surrendered two hits, two unearned runs and two bb in five innings. F. Mouchet (W 1-0) got the win, W. Coopman (L 0-2) the loss.
In the second game Paris UC used a four-run fourth to blow a close game wide open, winning with a final score of 12-7. F. Mouchet (W 2-0) started this time and allowed five runs on eight hits in seven innings for his second win of the day. He also drove in two runs. O. Saavedra had three RBI for PUC. A. Dovigo and B. Belloy had four of the seven RBI for the Cougars. Higashiyama (L 0-1) was charged with eight hits, seven runs (2 ER) and two bb in seven innings.
Montpellier Barracudas – Rouen Huskies 9-2, 0-9
After two completely different games the Montpellier Barracudas and the Rouen Huskies settled for the split on Sunday. In game one L. Andrades (W 2-0) dominated through nine innings to lead Montpellier to a 9-2 victory. He struck out eleven and allowed just six hits, two runs (1 ER) and three bb. Four-run rallies in the fifth and seventh provided the necessary run support. A. Cros, J.-M. Mayeur and S. Vicente combined for seven RBI. Keino Perez (L 2-2) issued eleven hits, nine runs (4 ER) and a walk in seven innings.
In the second game A. Piquet (W 1-0) and new guy J. Crystal (S 1) combined to allow just three hits and a walk in a 9-0 shutout for the Huskies. Piquet got the win after six Ks in six scoreless frames. Crystal struck out three in three. At the plate J. Bert went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and two RBI. J. Navarro (L 1-2) surrendered nine hits, six runs and a walk in five innings.
