Anthony Piquet holds on at second base, as Savigy tries to break up Double Play

Savigny Lions – La Guerche Hawks 2-4, 2-1

The LIONS needed a 2-1 win in game two of their series against LA GUERCHE to clinch a berth in the French playoffs. In the first match the HAWKS scored two runs in the top of the seventh on a two-run single by Mathieu Brau into left field en route to a 4-2 win. Anthony Piquet out-dueled Carlos Jiminian on the mound. But SAVIGNY got the important victory in the second part of the twin bill. The first two batters scored in the opening frame and LA GUERCHE only was able to cut the deficit in a half with a sac fly by Anthony Piquet in the sixth, losing 1-2. Pierrick Lemestre earned the win, Gaetan Lepoupon took the loss.

Rouen Huskies – Montpellier Barracudas 4-0, 7-1

ROUEN pitching dominated MONTPELLIER last weekend in the French Elite League and the HUSKIES solidified first place with the sweep. In game one Robin Roy allowed just five hits in a complete game 4-0 shutout, striking out seven. ROUEN took the lead on a run by Joris Bert in the fourth. Bert scored a second time in a three-run eighth. Kenji Hagiwara and Dany Scalabrini also crossed the plate in the frame. Matthew Blackmore gave up six hits, four runs (1 ER) and a walk in eight innings. In the second match The HUSKIES scored two runs apiece in the fifth, seventh and eighth of a 7-1 win. Hagiwara and Luc Piquet homered for the host, while Dennis Kelly went deep for the BARRACUDAS. Keino Perez picked up win number eight of the season. Edouard Massé took the loss.
