Savigny Lions – Montigny Cougars 3-2, 15-3 (7)

The Savigny Lions beat the Montigny Cougars twice on Easter Sunday in the French Elite League, improving to 7-1 for the season. It was a make-up date from week two. In game one C. Cooper (W 4-0) struck out nine batters in five no-hit, two-walk innings to lead Savigny to a 3-2 victory. Montigny ended the no-hit bid in the seventh. The Cougars also scored two runs in the top of the ninth, but couldn’t push the tying run over the plate. B. Guaye and L. Aponte had two hits and a run apiece for Savigny, which had built a fast 2-0 lead through two innings and was up by three runs after six frames. Higashiyama (L 0-3) conceded four hits, three runs (1 ER) and five bb in six innings.

In the second game the Lions scored five runs in the third and the sixth en route to a lopsided 15-3 win. Five players scored twice. E. DeBlanc drove in three. P. Lemestre, A. Touhari and T. Salado had two RBI each. O. Godin went 3-for-3 for Montigny. E. Secleppe (W 1-0) gave up four hits, an unearned run and five walks in five innings. W. Coopman (L 0-3) surrendered one hit, six unearned runs and five bb in 2 1/3 innings. It was the eighth loss for the Cougars in the eighth game this season.
