T&A San Marino – Telemarket Rimini 5-1
T&A San Marino completed a sweep over Telemarket Rimini in the Italian Baseball League, winning 5-1 on Saturday evening. Joe Mazzuca homered and scored three times overall to spark the Titans offense. Francesco Imperiali collected two RBI. Tiago Da Silva captured the win with five scoreless innings. Enorbel Marquez-Ramirez was charged with the loss.
Novara United – Unipol Bologna 1-17 (7), 1-5
Unipol Bologna also won all three games of their series, returning home successfully from Novara United. In game one of the doubleheader on Saturday (due to a rainout on Friday), Bologna scored in six of the seven innings of a 17-1 blowout. All ten players used by Fortitudo scored at least one run. Gabriele Ermini went 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. Carlos Boza accounted for the lone Novara run with a solo homerun. Fabio Betto struck out seven in five innings for the win. Alejandro Morese took the loss.
In the night cap of the twin bill Bologna scored four runs in the third en route to a 5-1 victory. Luca Panerati pitched five scoreless one-hit, one-walk innings, striking out six. Mark Castellitto went deep, scored twice and drove in two. Antonio Noguera issued four runs (3 ER) on six hits and a walk in four innings to take the loss.
Danesi Nettuno – Grosseto Baseball 5-0
Riccardo De Santis and Carlos Richetti combined to lead Danesi Nettuno to a 5-0 shutout. They allowed nine hits and a walk in the game, but kept the Orioles from scoring. Vinicio Sparanga scored three runs for Nettuno. Panagiotis Sikaras allowed eight hits, three runs (1 ER) and two walks in six innings for the loss. He struck out seven.
Cariparma Parma – De Angelis Godo Knights 7-6 (10)
Cariparma Parma needed a walk-off RBI double by Stefano Giannetti in the bottom of the tenth inning to down the De Angelis Godo Knights 7-6 in the rubber match of the three-game series on Saturday evening. He was 3-for-5 with four RBI overall. The Godo Knights had tied the contest with a pair of RBI singles in the top of the ninth, sending the game into extra innings. Marco Grifantini got the win after blowing the save. Sammy De Los Santos took the loss.
