Grosseto Baseball – Cariparma Parma 0-6

Cariparma Parma shut out Grosseto Baseball 6-0 on Thursday evening to open week 11 in the Italian Baseball League. Jose Sanchez and Justin Cicatello combined to hold the Orioles to six hits and a walk in nine scoreless innings. Luca Scalera gave Parma a 4-0 lead with a grand slam in the fourth. Christian Leoni added a solo homerun in the seventh and later scored on an error to finalize the 6-0 result. Michael Smith took the loss.

Telemarket Rimini – Unipol Bologna 3-2

Telemarket Rimini edged out Unipol Bologna 3-2 in a matchup between the teams in first and second in the standings. The Pirates erased a 0-2 deficit on a throwing error by second baseman Alessandro Vaglio in the sixth. Another error allowed Luis Maza to score the winning run in the eighth. Marcos Tabata got the win in relief. He issued just one hit in three scoreless innings. Felix Romero took the loss, giving up Maza’s double, which set up the decisive run. Starters Jesus Matos and Francisco Cruceta had combined for 17 strikeouts in 13 innings pitched.
