Northern Division:

Dortmund Wanderers – Paderborn Untouchables 2-5, 4-3

The Untouchables had a chance to move into first place overnight with a sweep against the Wanderers on Saturday, but instead had to settle for the split. In game one Eugen Heilmann’s (W 6-0) only mistake was a game-tying two-run homerun by Trevor Howell in the sixth. However the U’s came right back, putting two runs on the board in the seventh en route to a 5-2 win. In the second match Dortmund scored three runs on a sac fly and a pair of bases loaded walks in the eighth to erase a 1-3 deficit and to seal a 4-3 win. Matt Kemp (W 5-5) struck out ten in nine innings for the win.

Dohren Wild Farmers – HSV Stealers 10-4, 6-16 (7)

For the sixth time this season the HSV Stealers had to settle for the split, when they traveled to the Dohren Wild Farmers on Saturday. In game one the Wild Farmers used an eight-run sixth on their way to a 10-4 win. Tyson Jaquez and Lars Erhorn had two RBI each. In game two the club from Hamburg got some payback, scoring six runs in the fourth and six in the sixth in a seven-inning 16-6 win. Patrick Maat (3-5, 3 runs) and Sergej Yatsenka (3 RBI) hit homeruns.

Pulheim Gophers – Bonn Capitals 5-11, 2-3

The Capitals moved into a tie for second place in the northern division of the Baseball-Bundesliga thanks to a sweep in Pulheim. In game one Tim Henkenjohann (W 6-1) struck out 13 batters in eight solid innings to lead Bonn to an 11-5 win. He allowed just five hits, three unearned runs and two walks. Christian Nsien drove in three. Christian Weiland hit a solo homerun for the host. In the second match Bonn used a strong start by Bryce Schoening (W 5-3) and a triple play in the sixth to beat the Gophers 3-2. Schoening issued just two unearned runs on seven hits in nine strong innings. He struck out seven. Jesse LaCasse put Bonn ahead with a two-run shot in the second. But Pulheim came back to tie the contest in the fourth before the Caps won it on a RBI Fielder’s Choice by Jonathan Schemmel in the sixth. Lee Roberts (L 3-5) issued eight hits, three runs and five bb in nine innings, striking out twelve.

Cologne Cardinals – Solingen Alligators 5-19 (7), 0-16 (7)

The Solingen Alligators crushed the Cologne Cardinals in both games on Sunday to solidify first place in the standings. In game one the Alligators already led 8-3, when they scored nine runs in the sixth to blow things wide open. Evan Porter and Moritz Buttgereit scored four runs each. Dominik Wulf went 3-for-5 with four RBI. Joe Slater scored three times for Cologne. In game two Josh Rickards (W 6-2) only allowed a two-out single by Ryo Kagami in the bottom of the seventh, while striking out seven in a 16-0 shutout. Wulf (3-4, HR, 4 Runs, 4 RBI,) Nils Hartkopf (3-5, 4 RBI) and Peter Kanthak (3-5, HR, 4 RBI) set the highlights at the plate.

Southern Division:

Gauting Indians – Mannheim Tornados 5-4 (10), 10-5

The Indians moved into a tie for third place in the southern division with a sweep over the Tornados on Sunday. They now have won eight games in a row. In game one an error during a botched pickoff play forced in the winning run in the bottom of the tenth of a 5-4 victory. Kory Twede went 3-for-4. Mannheim had erased a four-run deficit in the top of the seventh. Dominik Hartinger (GAU) issued four runs (2 ER) on five hits in nine innings, striking out six. John Dobkowski (W 3-3) picked up the win. Craig Pycock (L 2-1) took the loss. In the second match Gauting scored all ten runs in a 10-5 win through the first four innings, completing the sweep. Johannes Jung doubled twice and drove in two. Thomas Rohrer scored twice. Dobkowski (W 4-3) got another win in relief, as starter Kyle Kearcher had to leave early after a comebacker hit his throwing hand.

Haar Disciples – Mainz Athletics 8-6, 10-5

The Disciples were able to maintain the pace by their local rivals from Gauting, sweeping the Athletics on Sunday to improve to 8-6 for the season. In game one Gregor Klinc pitched eight-plus strong innings to lead Haar to an 8-6 win. Mainz nearly erased a 2-8-deficit in the top of the ninth, highlighted by a three-run triple of Mike Larson. Neuenburg Atomics – Saarlouis Hornets 1-16 (7), 3-10

Just four days after suffering lopsided losses in Regensburg, the Atomics were on the wrong side of blowouts once again. The Hornets out-scored Neuenburg 26-4 in the sweep. In game one Jakub Vojak, who also had a two-run triple, and Edward Martinez hit homeruns in a 16-1 rout in seven innings. Saarlouis already had taken a 5-0 lead after the opening period. In the second game the guests scored eight runs in the first two frames en route to a 10-3 win. Trey Hendricks drove in three of the eight runs. On the mound Ales Keprta and Tom Fiebig got the wins, Janos Daroczi and Alex Aucoin took the losses.
