The Konica Minolta Pioniers won a pitcher’s duel on Sunday afternoon in the Dutch Hoofdklasse 2-1 against the Almere Magpies, finishing the regular season. A RBI single by Zerzinho Croes broke a 1-1 tie in the seventh to drive in the winning run. Almere had tied the contest one frame earlier when Jair Roseburg scored on a passed ball. Arshwin Asjes (PIO) stayed on the mound for five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and three walks. Sten van den Bedem (ALM) conceded a hit, an unearned run and four bb in 5 2/3 frames. Jean-Paul Gulinck (W) received the win, Martin Kuipers (L) the loss.

Mr. Cocker HCAW – Sparta/Feyenoord Rotterdam 7-2

Mr. Cocker HCAW scored seven runs between the fourth and the sixth en route to a 7-2 win over Sparta/Feyenoord Rotterdam. The guests had the better start when the second batter in the game, Rensver Jansen, hit a two-run homerun, but couldn’t score again. Randy Daal went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI. Roger Luque (W) struck out nine in seven innings, allowing four hits, two runs and two bb. Glenn Fasting (L) was charged with seven hits, four runs and three walks in five innings and the loss.

DOOR Neptunus completed its sweep over ADO this weekend with the third shutout in a row. Kevin Heijstek and three relievers lifted Rotterdam to a 3-0 win. He issued seven hits and two walks in five innings, but kept the board scoreless. Raily Legito broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the sixth with a two-run triple. A RBI fielder’s choice by Marvin Bleij after a triple by Dwayne Kemp made it 3-0 in the seventh. Bobby Carrington and Martijn Riphagen (both ADO) combined to hold Neptunus hitless through the first five innings, allowing just a pair of walks. But Kevin Nieveld (L) couldn’t continue the pace and took the loss. Dushan Ruzic (W) pitched a scoreless sixth for the win.

L&D Amsterdam Pirates – Corendon Kinheim 6-5 (10)

L&D Amsterdam overcame a 1-5 deficit on Sunday and beat Corendon Kinheim thanks to a walk-off RBI single by Seb Visser in the bottom of the tenth. It was his fourth hit on the afternoon. Vince Rooi had tied the game one frame earlier with a RBI single. Bjorn Henrichs drove in two for Kinheim. Patrick Beljaards (KIN) gave up six hits, a run and a walk in six innings. Ben Grover (AMS) surrendered seven hits, five runs (4 ER) and thee bb in six frames. Pim Walsma (W) got the win, Michiel van Kampen (L) the loss.
