Marco Grifantini and Mihai Burlea in his first Italian Baseball League appearance combined to allow just three hits, leading PARMA to a 6-0 shutout over BOLOGNA. Grifantini gave up two hits and three bb in seven innings, striking out eleven. The Romanian Burlea closed it out with four K’s in the remaining two frames, giving up one hit and a walk. CARIPARMA took a 3-0 lead in the top of the fourth on a Laidel Chapelli homerun and two runs, which scored on a dropped fly ball by second baseman Joseph Mazzuca. Yulman Ribeiro took the loss, issuing seven hits, four runs (2 ER) and two bb in 5 1/3 innings.

Martin Vasquez and Dean Rovinelli each drove in two, as SAN MARINO defeated REGGIO EMILIA 9-3. They blew the game wide open with five runs in the eighth. Ardley Jansen went three-for-four with a walk and three runs scored. Tiago Da Silva picked up the win with nine strikeouts in six solid innings. He conceded three runs (1 ER) on eight hits. Gregory Palanzo surrendered seven hits, four runs (1 ER) and two bb in seven innings.
The games between DANESI NETTUNO and DE ANGELIS GODO, respective MONTEPASCHI GROSSETO and TELEMARKET RIMINI were rained out and probably will be made up on Sunday.
