Dohren Wild Farmers – Solingen Alligators 2-13, 2-0
The Wild Farmers stunned the Alligators with a 2-0 shutout in game two of their doubleheader in the northern division of the Baseball-Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon. Vince De Coito led the way, allowing just four hits and a pair of walks in nine innings, while striking out ten. Tyson Jaquez scored both runs, one on a solo homerun. Solingen had dominated in game one, scoring 13 runs in the first five frames en route to a 13-2 win. Nils Hartkopf and Evan Porter (3 runs, 3 RBI) went deep. Dustin Hughes went 3-for-4 with three singles and three RBI.
Bonn Capitals – Paderborn Untouchables 7-8 (12), 2-4
The Untouchables used the split by the Alligators to close the gap towards the leader in the standings, as they won both ends of their twin bill in Bonn on Sunday. In game one Paderborn blew an early 6-0 lead, trailed 6-7 in the ninth, but still managed to win by a score of 8-7 thanks to a solo homerun by Daniel Meier in the twelfth. Jesse LaCasse homered for the Capitals. In the second match Meier only struggled in the fifth inning on the mound to lead the U’s to a 4-2 victory and the sweep.
Cologne Cardinals – Dortmund Wanderers 8-6, 1-8
The Cardinals and the Wanderers settled for a split on Sunday. In game one pinch hitter Markus Stryczek hit a walk-off three-run homerun in the bottom of the ninth to lead Cologne to an 8-6 win. Dortmund led since a RBI double by Trevor Howell in the eighth. In the second game Matt Kemp issued just three hits and three walks through the first eight innings to lead his Wanderers to an 8-1 victory. Kevin Brunet nearly matched him pitch by pitch in the first seven innings, but Dortmund blew things wide open, when he left the mound at the beginning of the eighth, scoring seven runs.
Pulheim Gophers – HSV Stealers 2-5, 3-1
The Stealers and the Gophers also split their doubleheader on Sunday. In game one the HSV took the lead in the seventh on their way to a 5-2 win. Patrick Maat hit a solo homerun and drove in two. In the second match Lee Roberts struck out 13 batters in nine innings to lead Pulheim to a 3-1 win. They scored all three runs against losing pitcher Corey Parsons in the bottom of the third.
