Bonn Capitals – Dortmund Wanderers 11-1 (7), 7-0
The Capitals also stayed undefeated in week four of the 2010 season in the German Baseball-Bundesliga, as they swept the Wanderers. In game one they already led 4-1, when they scored seven runs in the fifth and sixth en route to an 11-1 win in seven innings. Tim Henkenjohann allowed just one run on five hits in seven innings for the win. Alex Baham and Lennart Weller contributed two-run hits. Bryce Schoening dominated in game two, throwing eight scoreless innings in a 7-0 shutout, winning the duel against Matt Kemp. The offense produced 14 hits to provide the necessary run support.
Solingen Alligators – HSV Stealers 7-1, 11-0 (8)
The Alligators also improved to 8-0 this year, defeating the Stealers twice, which stayed winless on the weekend for the first time this season. Solingen took an early 2-0 lead in the second on a two-run homerun by Robin Drache en route to a 7-1 victory. Andre Hughes won the duel on the mound against Joakim Claesson. Hamburg avoided the shutout thanks to a RBI single by Jerome Rousseau in the ninth. In the second game Josh Rickards dealt from the beginning, allowing just three hits in eight scoreless innings to lead the Alligators to an 11-0 shutout. Solingen already led 7-0 after three innings. Dominik Wulf and Nils Hartkopf added homeruns later in the game.
Paderborn Untouchables – Dohren Wild Farmers 11-1 (7), 2-1
One week before their showdown with the Alligators the Untouchables picked up two wins against Dohren to solidify third place in the standings. Jendrick Speer scored four runs and drove in two to lead Paderborn to an 11-1 rout in game one. Daniel Meier went 5-for-5 with two runs and five RBI, missing the cycle by a homerun. Eugen Heilmann struck out ten for the win. In the second game the U’s prevailed 2-1, as Daniel Meier won the pitcher’s duel against Vince DeCoito. Meier gave up just one run on five hits and five walks in nine innings, while striking out 14. DeCoito issued six hits, two runs and two bb in eight innings, collecting nine Ks. Nik Kosach and Daniel Hinz scored the runs for Paderborn in the first and the fifth. The Wild Farmers got on the board in the eighth through Jan Hassenpflug’s second run of the day. They had a chance to tie the contest afterwards, but stranded three in the eighth.
Pulheim Gophers – Cologne Cardinals 4-13, 3-8
The Cardinals ran over the Gophers on Sunday to reach the win column in the 2010 season. In game one they scored six runs in the opening frame on their way to an easy 13-4 win. In the second match Cologne overcame an early deficit to win 8-3. They are now just one game behind fourth place in the standings. Pulheim however stays winless.
