Savigny Lions – Stade Toulousain 8-6, 17-8

The Savigny Lions solidified first place in the French Elite League with a sweep over Stade Toulousain. In the first game it looked like an easy victory for the Lions, when they led 8-0 after five innings. But the Tigers woke up and scored six runs in the last three frames to make things interesting. However they couldn’t complete the comeback and lost 6-8. F. Peyrichou drove in four for Savigny. A. Paz picked up two RBI for Toulouse. C. Cooper (W 7-0) struck out ten in seven innings for his seventh win this season. J. Murrey (L 1-2) issued seven runs (2 ER) on seven hits in 3 2/3 frames for the loss.

In the second game Savigny scored seven runs in the fourth and six in the eighth for a 17-8 win. Toulouse was able to cut the deficit to 8-9 midways through the seventh, but couldn’t add anything further afterwards. E. Deblanc scored four times and drove in three to lead the Lions offense. A. Paz went 3-for-5 with two RBI. P. Lemestre (W 3-2) gave up four hits, three runs (1 ER) and three bb in six innings. L. De La Rosa (L 0-1) took the loss.

Pessac Panthers – Templiers Senart 4-3, 1-14

The Pessac Panthers and the Templiers Senart shared wins on Saturday. In game one Pessac prevailed 4-3. Trailing 1-4 Senart tried to come back in the ninth. They managed two runs, but with K. Atkinson on first, A. Paturel struck out to end the game. S. Boyer scored twice for the Panthers. P. Briones (W 5-0) gave up just three unearned runs on six hits in a complete game win. He struck out eleven. M. Brelle-Andrade (L 6-1) suffered his first loss of the season after eight innings, seven hits, four runs (1 ER) and two bb.

In the second match the Templiers got some payback for the loss, cruising to a 14-1 victory. F. Hanvi and K. Atkinson hit homeruns. Atkinson drove in four and crossed the plate three times overall. S. Meurant (W 1-0) allowed six hits, an unearned run and a walk in eight innings. A. Leroy (L 0-4) surrendered four hits, three runs and two bb in three innings.

Paris UC – Montigny Cougars 8-2, 19-6 (7)

Paris UC dispatched the Montigny Cougars for their wins seven and eight of the season. In game one PUC scored seven runs combined in the seventh and eighth en route to an 8-2 win. F. Mouchet and B. Dubaut scored twice. D. Rodriguez drove in two. W. Musson (W) was dealing on the mound, going the distance, issuing seven hits, two runs and two bb. He struck out 13. H. Wise (L) took the loss in relief.

In the second match Paris overcame an early 0-4 deficit in a 19-6 victory, which was highlighted by a ten-run second. D. Rodriguez went 3-for-5 with a homerun and three RBI. C. Mesguich collected three hits, four runs and three RBI. M. Monbeig (W 1-3) gave up seven hits, five runs and a walk in five innings for the win. B. Dagneau (L 0-2) was charged with three hits, nine runs (7 ER) and five bb in one-plus innings.

Rouen Huskies – Montpellier Barracudas 6-11, 3-1

Recently stripped of two victories against Paris UC due to wrong lineups, the Montpellier Barracudas took home a split from the Rouen Huskies on Saturday. In game one the Barracudas scored five runs in the top of the fifth to break a 1-1 tie in an 11-6 win. After Rouen answered with four runs, Montpellier added five insurance runs afterwards to seal the victory. A. Zuaznabar and J. Mayeur combined for six RBI. J. Crystal had three RBI for the Huskies. R. Ware (W 4-0) gave up four hits, five runs (4 ER) and three bb in five innings. J. Bert (L 2-1) took the loss in relief of Crystal, who had pitched in the first three innings.

In the second match Rouen prevailed 3-1 thanks to a strong pitching effort by O. Ozeanich, A. Piquet (W 2-1) and M. Johnson, which held Montpellier to four hits, a run and four walks in nine innings. R. Thomas went 2-for-4 with a run and a RBI. T. Meley (L 0-2) conceded the decisive runs to take the loss.
