Stock City Cubs – Vienna Neustadt Diving Ducks 2-4, 1-5

The Stock City Cubs lost both games to the Vienna Neustadt Diving Ducks on Saturday and also lost first place in the standings in the process. Clemens Cichocki led the Diving Ducks to a 4-2 win in game one, their first of the season in a first match of a doubleheader. In the second part of the twin bill, the guests from Vienna Neustadt took a 2-1 lead in the seventh inning en route to a 5-1 victory.

GEI Athletics Attnang-Puchheim – Schwaz Tigers 12-4, 16-11

The GEI Athletics Attnang-Puchheim overpowered the Schwaz Tigers 12-4 and 16-11 to move into first place in the ABL standings. Jon Kashuba, Martin Rabengruber and Dave Burns went deep for the A’s in a 12-4 win in game one. Matthias Mayer and Adam Sowell hit homeruns for the Tigers. In the second match Attnang-Puchheim overcame an early 0-5 deficit to prevail 16-11 in another slugfest. Paul Astl homered twice for Schwaz. Rabengruber (2) and Burns hit homeruns for the host.

Dornbirn Indians – Union Kufstein Vikings 7-12, 2-1

The Dornbirn Indians and the Union Kufstein Vikings split their doubleheader on Saturday. In game one a three-run homerun by Mark Marelich turned out to be crucial, as Union Kufstein came back from a pair of deficits in a 12-7 victory. In the second contest Devery Van Dekeere and Danny Hall out-pitched Bubbie Buzachero to lead the Indians to a 2-1 nail-biter. A wild pitch in the eighth inning decided the outcome.

Vienna Metrostars – Vienna Wanderers 6-5, 5-7

The Vienna derby between the Metrostars and the Wanderers ended with a split. In game one the Mets prevailed 6-5, scoring the winning run in the tenth inning. In the second game the Wanderers held on to an early 4-0 lead en route to a 7-5 win.
