Corendon Kinheim – L&D Amsterdam Pirates 4-3, 9-4
KINHEIM ended its losing streak against the PIRATES in the Dutch Hoofdklasse this weekend. On Thursday they Josh Renick was the hero, when he plated Rene Cremer and Remco Draijer with a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth in a 4-3 win. AMSTERDAM had taken a 3-2 lead in the top of the eighth on a two-run single by Kenny Berkenbosch. Bryan Engelhardt hit a solo homerun for CORENDON. On Saturday the team from Haarlem scored seven runs between the fourth and fifth and celebrated a 9-4 win. Jason Halman scored three times. Rafael Jozefa and Kevin Weijgertse drove in two each.
DOOR Neptunus – ADO 3-0
NEPTUNUS shut out ADO on Saturday 3-0 behind Diegomar Markwell’s gem. The national team hurler of the Netherlands struck out ten in 6 1/3 two-hit innings. Berry van Driel and Dushan Ruzic completed the three-hitter with four more punch outs. DOOR scored all three runs in the fourth on a two-run double by Jeffrey Arends and a sac fly by Jeroen Sluijter.
Konica Minolta Pioniers – Sparta/Feyenoord Rotterdam 4-1
Ryan Murphy struck out ten batters in seven scoreless innings to lead the PIONIERS to a 4-1 win over SPARTA/FEYENOORD. He allowed just four hits. Mervin Gario drove in two of the four runs. Norbert Lokhorst scored twice. Rob Cordemans took the loss after 7 2/3 innings, in which he conceded six hits, four runs (2 ER) and four bb. He struck out nine.
Media Monks RCH – Mr. Cocker HCAW 1-2
HCAW needed a RBI single by Haily de Palm in the top of the ninth to prevail 2-1 against the MEDIA MONKS on Saturday. Quensley Bazoer, who scored the winning run, had tied the game in the seventh, reaching home plate on a wild pitch. Mark Smit had put RCH up in front with a RBI single in the fifth. Andre Hughes (HCAW) probably had one of his best games in the Hoofdklasse so far, striking out ten in 7 2/3 innings, allowing just one run on five hits and a walk. Chris Mowday (RCH) issued four hits, one unearned run and two bb in eight innings. He collected eight K’s.
ADO – Konica Minolta Pioniers 0-11 (7)
The PIONIERS crushed ADO 11-0 on Sunday, using an eight-run fourth to win in seven innings. Jefferson Muzo led the offense with three RBI. Mervin Gario and Mark-Jan Moorman each collected two runs and two RBI. Roger Kops pitched six scoreless innings for the win. Due to four errors by the ADO defense ten of the eleven runs were unearned.
Mr. Cocker HCAW – DOOR Neptunus 2-4
NEPTUNUS overcame an early 0-2 deficit against HCAW and won 4-2 thanks to three runs in the fifth. RBI singles by Eugene Kingsale and Raily Legito put DOOR up 3-2. Jeffrey Arends added an insurance run with a sac fly.
Sparta/Feyenoord Rotterdam – L&D Amsterdam Pirates 5-2 (6)
On Sunday SPARTA/FEYENOORD won a rain-shortened game against AMSTERDAM by a score of 5-2. Eldrion Regina went three-for-three with two RBI. Tim Roodenburg allowed two runs on six hits and a walk in six innings for the win.
Corendon Kinheim – MediaMonks RCH 4-7
The MEDIA MONKS stunned KINHEIM on Sunday with a 7-4 victory, just their second of the season. Ferd van Stekelenburg drove in three. Mark Smit and Lex Leijenaar combined to go seven-for-ten with six runs scored. Jakub Malik had two hits and two RBI on his belt. Bryan Engelhardt (4-4) and Tjerk Smeets drove in the runs for CORENDON.
