DOOR Neptunus won game one of their series against the Konica Minolta Pioniers on Thursday evening by a score of 4-2. The Rotterdam-based club had the better start into the rematch of last year’s Holland Series, as they took a 2-0 lead in the opening frame, when Eugene Kingsale scored on a wild pitch and Benjamin Dille on a RBI groundout by Jeffrey Arends.

But Hoofddorp came back and tied the contest in the fourth through a RBI groundout by Mervin Gario and a RBI single by De Flanegin. It didn’t last long, as Neptunus answered with a pair of RBI singles by Kingsale and Arends in the fifth and sixth to regain the lead.

Dushan Ruzic (W 1-0) got the starting nod from head coach Steve Janssen and allowed five hits, two runs and three walks in seven innings. He struck out six. Jurjen van Zijl (L 1-1) gave up three hits, four runs and three bb in 5 1/3 innings.
