Danesi Nettuno completed the sweep over Telemarket Rimini in the Italian Baseball League with two wins on Saturday. In game one Mark La Macchia (W) and Remigio Leal combined to allow seven hit and a walk in nine innings, but held the scoreboard clean to lead Nettuno to a 2-0 shutout. They scored both runs in the fourth inning on an error and a RBI single by Manny Alexander. Enorbel Marquez-Ramirez (L) issued seven hits, two runs (1 ER) and three bb in six innings.

In the night cap of the doubleheader Nettuno handed out 16 hits in a 6-2 win, completing the sweep and closing the gap towards the top four teams in the standings. Manny Alexander drove in three. Renzo Sanna, Luis Perez and Ennio Retrosi had three hits apiece. Mario Chiarini hit a solo homerun for Rimini. Carlos Richetti (W) gave up four hits, two runs (1 ER) and two bb in 7 1/3 innings. Sandy Patrone (L) surrendered eight hits and two runs in four innings.

UGF Bologna also completed a sweep on Saturday in the IBL, winning twice in Palermo against the Catania Warriors. In the first match they used a pair of four-run rallies en route to a 12-2 win in seven innings. Juan Carlos Infante walked and scored three times. Jairo Ramos drove in three. Cody Cillo (W) allowed two hits, two runs (1 ER) and three bb in five innings. Giuseppe D’Ignoti got just one out in the first innings, conceding four runs on four bb and a hit by pitch.

A sac fly by Juan Carlos Infante and a RBI single by Eddy Garabito in the top of the fifth put UGF Bologna ahead in game two of the day, a 4-2 win. Joseph Mazzuca hit a solo homerun. Fabio Betto (W) issued six hits, two runs and two bb in seven innings. Orlando Yntema (L) surrendered three hits, three runs and four walks in five innings.
T&A San Marino – De Angelis Godo Knights 5-1

T&A San Marino was the third team in the IBL this weekend to celebrate a sweep. They won 5-1 on Saturday against the De Angelis Godo Knights thanks to a four-run rally in the opening period. Tony Granato had tied the game with a solo homerun. Ardley Jansen and Francesco Imperiali followed a few batters later with a RBI double and a two-run single. Tiago Da Silva (W) gave up five hits, a run and two walks in six innings. Danny Forte (L) allowed four hits, four runs and a bb in one inning.
Montepaschi Grosseto – Cariparma Parma 6-2, 8-0

Luca Bischeri and Kelly Ramos combined to drive in five runs in a 6-2 win by Montepaschi Grosseto over Cariparma in the afternoon game on Saturday. Danny Sandoval scored three times. Chris Cooper (W) allowed six hits, two runs and two bb in six innings. Mihai Burlea (L) surrendered three hits, four runs (3 ER) and six walks in five innings.

Montepaschi also won the rubber match, deciding things early in an 8-0 shutout. Anthony Coromato hit a solo homerun and scored two runs overall. Gabriele Ermini also crossed the plate twice, while Andrea De Santis drove in two. Riccardo De Santis (W) issued just three hits and two walks in six scoreless innings for the win. Roberto Corradini (L) was charged with five hits, eight runs (4 ER) and five bb in 2 2/3 innings.
