
CD Pamplona – Astros Valencia 10-7, 10-7
CD PAMPLONA swept the doubleheader against the ASTROS thanks to two 10-7 victories. In game one they used a seven-run third to decide the outcome early. VALENCIA had a big rally on its own, as they scored four runs in the eighth, but it was too little too late. Aingeru Sanz homered and drove in two for CD. Alexis Fumero (W 4-9) went the distance for the win. He allowed twelve hits, seven runs (3 ER) and three bb. Gary Spencer Lucian (L 0-2) took the loss. In the second match PAMPLONA scored runs in five of the first six innings en route to the win. Fumero and Urtzi Martorell combined for four RBI. Daniel Erice collected four hits, including two doubles. Eneko Del Burgo (W 1-4) celebrated his first win of the season after five solid relief innings. Raul Rosell (L 0-1) conceded five runs on four hits in two frames.
Baseball Navarra – Halcones de Vigo 2-1, 12-2 (7)
NAVARRA beat HALCONES 2-1 and 12-2 at home this weekend in the Spanish Division de Honor. Next week both teams again will meet to make up the May 17 rainout in Vigo. This game day though NAVARRA scored the decisive run in match number one on a RBI single by Luis Villanueva in the bottom of the eighth. VIGO had tied the contest just minutes earlier on a RBI single by Angel Virgues. Juan Jose Lopez (W 6-7) struck out eight in nine innings for the win on the mound and also hit a solo homerun. Roman Carrasco (L 1-3) issued eight hits, two runs and four bb in 7 1/3 innings for the loss. In the second game Larry Infante went three-for-five with a homerun and four runs scored. Diego Armando Perez (W 5-4) conceded one run on four hits in three relief innings for the win. HALCONES’ Juan Jose Lopez (L 4-6) got the loss after 1 2/3 rocky innings.
FC Barcelona – CB Sant Boi 8-7 (13), 3-1
The FC BARCELONA prevailed twice in the Catalonian duel against SANT BOI. In game one Jason Friedman (W 1-0) led BARCA to an 8-7 win in 13 innings. He pitched a season-high seven innings to pick up the win in relief of Homer Baez and drove in the winning run with a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 13th. Oscar Diaz had tied the contest with a RBI single after SANT BOI had taken the lead in the top of the frame on a sac fly by Carlos Fente. Both teams had exchanged runs in the twelfth. Javier Flores had put CB up in front with a RBI single, but Jorge Miqueleiz answered with a RBI double in the bottom of the third extra inning. BARCELONA had overcome a 1-5 deficit after six innings by scoring four in the bottom of the seventh. Yaeko Vazquez (L 3-1) took the loss.
In the second match Pedro Belmonte 15-1) went the distance, allowing four hits, a run and two walks to lead BARCELONA to a 3-1 win. Emmanuel Febles scored in the first and the seventh. Jose Estebin Cruz (L 9-7) surrendered eight hits, three runs (1 ER) and five bb in seven innings.
Tenerife Marlins Puerto Cruz – CB Viladecans 3-0, 5-3 (13)
The old and new Spanish champion TENERIFE MARLINS closed out the season with two wins over VILADECANS. In game one Leslie Nacar (W 16-1) struck out twelve over nine innings, allowing just three hits to lead his club to a 3-0 shutout. Daniel Martinez and Luis Perez went back-to-back with homeruns in the fifth to provide the three runs offensive support. Delio Miguel Martinez (L 8-5) surrendered eight hits, three runs and a bb in eight innings. In the second part of the twin bill Martinez hit another two-run shot, this time in walk-off style in the bottom of the 13th frame. CB had tied the contest in the top of the ninth with a pair of RBI doubles by Felix Cano Sr. and David Porcar to force extra innings. Daniel Sanchez (W 1-0) picked up the win in relief. Marc Jodar (L 4-4) took the loss.
El Llano – San Inazio Bilbao 3-7, 1-4
SAN INAZIO secured fourth place in the final standings with two wins in Gijon against EL LLANO. In the first game they scored six runs in the first two frames en route to a 7-3 win. Ivan Roman and Dirimo Chavez scored five of the seven runs. Rene Reyes drove in three. Andoni Ortiz (W 2-3) allowed three runs on three hits and four walks in five innings. Elbis Alberto Avila (L 4-3) was chased from the mound after one-plus innings. In the second match BILBAO took the lead in the third and added insurance runs in the fifth and seventh en route to a 4-1 win. Alberto Magallon (W 8-6) allowed four hits and a walk in five scoreless innings for the win in relief of a strong Sergio Acha. Gabriel Kalev Camino (L 0-4) conceded four runs (3 ER) on nine hits and five bb in nine innings. He struck out seven.
