The FC Barcelona solidified second place in the Spanish Division de Honor standings with two wins against local rivals CB Viladecans. In game one a RBI double by Oscar Angulo broke up a 2-2 tie in the fifth inning en route to a 9-4 win. Emmanuel Febles went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and three RBI to lead the offense. Denny Nino scored three times for CB. Delio Miguel Martinez (W 4-0) struck out 15 batters in a complete game. Fabian Marquez (L 0-6) issued five hits, five runs (4 ER) and six bb in five-plus innings.

In the second match Barcelona scored eight runs between the fourth and the sixth on their way to a 10-4 win. Viladecans only was able to put four runs in the fifth on the board, but remained winless in the rest of the game. Emmanuel Febles and Jason Friedman combined for four RBI. Orlando Diaz scored three times. Guido Aguirre drove in three. Oscar Jimenez (W 2-0) got the start for the FCB, allowing four unearned runs on two hits and four walks in five innings. He struck out seven. Pol Llopis (L 4-4) surrendered eight hits, seven runs (4 ER) and four bb in 4 2/3 innings.
San Inazio Bilbao – Baseball Navarra 5-1, 4-7

San Inazio and Navarra settled for a split in their twin bill this weekend. In game one Bilbao scored four runs in the seventh in a 5-1 win. Fidel Mane Torres (W 5-4) went the distance, allowing just one run on eight hits and three walks, while striking out twelve. Tony Granadillo and Ruben Cabrera picked up two RBI each. Hector Perozo homered for the club from Pamplona. Juan Jose Lopez (L 5-3) gave up eight hits, five runs (2 ER) and three bb in seven innings. He struck out ten.
Game 2:

Game two of the set also was decided by a four-run rally, but this it came from Navarra in the sixth, as they prevailed 7-4. Luis Villanueva had a big two-run double. Larry Infante homered and scored three times. Edward Adames and Tony Granadillo hit two-run homeruns for San Inazio. Juan Miguel Marte (W 2-0) conceded three hits, two runs and two bb in seven innings. Alberto Magallon (L 3-4) gave up nine hits and six runs (5 ER) in six innings.
El Llano – Tenerife Marlins Puerto Cruz 0-10, 0-19 (6)
Game 1:

As expected the Tenerife Marlins pounded the winless El Llano. In game one Franklin Tavarez and Richard Montiel combined for five RBI to lead Puerto Cruz to a 10-0 shutout. Leslie Nacar (W 6-3) struck out 17 batters in seven scoreless two-hit innings for the win. Elvis Polanco (L 0-2) was charged with eight hits, five runs and two bb in five innings.
Game 2:

In the second part of the doubleheader the Marlins scored ten runs in the sixth en route to a 19-0 win. Nguyen Boulet scored four times, while Lesther Galvan and Richard Montiel, who hit a homerun, crossed the plate thrice. Luis Landaeta and Javier Flores drove in three apiece. Ivan Granados (W 7-2) sent twelve batters with strikeouts back into the dugout, allowing two hits and a walk in five scoreless innings. Jose Bailon (L 0-1) allowed eleven hits, nine runs (7 ER) and a bb in five innings.
CD Pamplona – Astros Valencia 3-7, 2-14
Game 1:

The Astros escaped game one in Pamplona with a 7-3 win after scoring six runs in the last two frames of the contest. Luis Galicia drove in two, as Kevin Malone, Antonio Salazar and Wilmer Oviedo crossed the plate twice. Aitor Iriarte put CD ahead with a two-run double in the second. John Scott Dunn (W 4-4) allowed eight hits, three runs (2 ER) and a walk in nine innings. He struck out twelve. Marcos Castillo (L 1-7) struck out eight also going the distance. He issued twelve hits, seven runs and two bb.
Game 2:

In the second match Kevin Malone went 4-for-5 with a grand slam, two doubles, three runs scored and five RBI leading Valencia to a 14-2 win in eight innings. Half of the runs were scored in the eighth inning. Miguel Pariente reached base five times, scored twice and drove in two. Jordi Valles (W 3-3) pitched seven strong innings, allowing three hits, a run and five walks. Juan Redin (L 2-4) surrendered just three hits in 3 1/3 innings, but also five runs (4 ER) and nine bb.
CB Sant Boi – Halcones de Vigo 9-1, 4-0

CB Sant Boi closed out the first half of the season in Spain with a sweep over Halcones de Vigo. In game one Vigo actually had the better start taking a 1-0 lead by a RBI single of Jose Morales and a strong pitching performance by Roman Carrasco. CB turned the game into its favor with a two-run single by Daniel Sanchez in the fourth before blowing it wide open with a total of seven runs in the seventh and eighth. William Domero scored twice and drove in two. Junior Guerra (W 5-0) pitched seven innings, allowing six hits, a run and a walk, while striking out eight. Carrasco (L 2-2) conceded eight hits, six runs (3 ER) and five bb in seven innings. He collected seven Ks.
Game 2:

The offense of the standings leader also hadn’t its best day in game two, but they also weren’t needed. Jose Estebin Cruz (W 4-1) issued just two hits and two walks in eight scoreless innings to lead Sant Boi to a 4-0 shutout. Marc Carrillo put them ahead with a two-run homerun in the first. An error in the fifth and a RBI fielder’s choice by Jose Luis Riera in the eighth put two more runs on the board. Jose Manuel Pimentel (L 0-2) gave up seven hits, four runs (3 ER) and four bb in eight innings.
