The Catania Warriors are one win away from a sweep against Montepaschi Grosseto, as they beat the Orioles 8-2 on Friday. Three runs in the second and five in the fifth put the game into the books. Seven different players crossed the plate for the Sicilian club, Weltin Cabrera twice. Orlando Yntema (W) issued seven hits, two runs (1 ER) and two bb in nine innings. He struck out ten. Chris Cooper (L) surrendered six hits, eight runs (4 ER) and five walks in four-plus innings. He collected seven strikeouts.

Cariparma scored eight runs in the top of the second en route to a 12-0 shutout in seven innings in Godo. Alex Sambucci and Riccardo Bertagnon combined for six RBI. Four players scored twice. On the mound Mihai Burlea (W) allowed four hits and three bb in five scoreless innings until Justin Cicatello closed it out with two three-hit frames. Pietro Briggi (L) was charged with five hits, eight runs (7 ER) and two walks in just 1 1/3 innings.

T&A San Marino already led 3-1 when they scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth to blow things wide open en route to an 11-2 victory over Danesi Nettuno. Max De Biase went 2-for-2 with three walks, a homerun, two runs scored and three RBI. Carlos Duran scored three times, while Simone Albanese drove in three. Mirco Caradonna homered and scored both runs for Nettuno. Tiago Da Silva (W) gave up three hits, two runs (1 ER) and a walk in five innings. Mark La Macchia (L) issued five hits, six runs and five bb in 3 1/3 frames.

After Enorbel Marquez-Ramirez (W) and Cody Cillo (BOL) exchanged zeros on the board in the first six frames, Telemarket Rimini’s Jhonny Carvajal broke the scoreless tie with a three-run homerun against Bologna’s reliever Yulman Ribeiro (L) in the eighth to lead the Pirates to a 3-0 win. Marquez-Ramirez gave up just three hits and two walks in seven innings, striking out three. Cillo only allowed a third-inning single and three bb in six frames, while striking out nine.
