Tobias Imboden dominated the Eagles in his third shutout of the season. Imboden sat down 13 hitters by strikeout, allowing only three hits in the eight-inning game. Eagles starter Stefan Haltmaier held the Cardinals in check for the first three innings, but a five run fourth inning sealed his and the teams fate, as the Cards tacked on another run in the sixth inning, and three more to end the game in the bottom of the eighth. Johnny Perigos continued his torrid hitting of late, going 3-5 with a double. Angelo Rodriguez was 2-3, two walks, two doubles, and three RBI.
In game two, the Cards got of to an early lead in the first, with each of the first five batters scoring to open up a first inning 5-0 advantage. John Baum went four innings on the hill, allowing no runs, while surrendering three hits and striking out four. Raphael Hanzi went 4-4, with a double. Samuel Paulino had a two run triple, and Johnny Perigos chipped in with two more hits. Tobias Imboden ended the game in walk-off, run-rule style, launching his first homerun of the season deep over the right field fence.
The wins propel the Cardinals into fourth place by themselves, and two games over .500. They next play Saturday against the Challengers, in Zurich at the new Heerenschurli.
