DOOR Neptunus returned to the Hoofdklasse stage on Thursday evening with a 3-1 win in Bussum. Mr. Cocker HCAW took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second when Quensley Bazoer scored on a throwing error by catcher Mourik Huijser. But the club from Rotterdam came back, tying the game in the top of the fourth on a RBI double by Eldrion Regina and going up 2-1 in the top of the sixth on a RBI single by Jeffrey Arends. They added an insurance run after a RBI single by Roy Seltenrijch in the ninth to seal the win. Diegomar Markwell (W) struck out eight batters in 7 1/3 innings, allowing eight hits, an unearned run and a walk. Kevin Miner (L) took the loss in relief of Robin van Eis, who had given up one run in four innings.
Konica Minolta Pioniers – L&D Amsterdam Pirates 2-3

Konica Minolta Pioniers suffered a loss in their return to the Hoofdklasse after the European Cup, as L&A Amsterdam prevailed 3-2 in Hoofddorp. The Pirates took a 3-0 lead after eight innings thanks to RBIs by Nick Urbanus (sac fly, sac bunt) and Vince Rooi. The Pioniers tried to start a rally in the bottom of the ninth, plating two runs on a single by Mark-Jan Moorman. But with two men on, Linoy Croes struck out and De Flanegin lined out to end the game. Rob Cordemans (W) struck out nine in eight scoreless innings, conceding just four hits and a walk. Eddie Aucoin (L) surrendered ten hits, three runs and two bb in 7 1/3 innings.
Sparta/Feyenoord Rotterdam – Corendon Kinheim 1-10

Corendon Kinheim celebrated a lopsided 10-1 win in Rotterdam against Sparta/Feyenoord on Thursday. Bryan Engelhardt (3-5, Solo-HR), Rafael Jozefa (4-5) and Rodney Michel (2-5) scored three runs apiece. Rene Cremer and Remco Draijer combined for six RBI. David Bergman (W) struck out seven in eight solid innings, issuing seven hits, a run and a walk. Rudy Seebus (L) was charged with eleven hits, six runs (5 ER) and two bb in seven-plus innings.
The game between the Almere Magpies and ADO was postponed.
