Raffaele Medoro, Ramon Tavarez join Catania Warriors Paternò

Ramon Tavarez leaves Nettuno for PaternoThe promoted Italian Baseball League club Catania Warriors Paternò has signed two former players from Danesi Nettuno. Veteran utility player Ramon Tavarez (picture) and young catcher Raffaele Medoro will join the Sicilian team.

The 40-year-old Dominican Tavarez is a switch hitter, who is playing in Italy since 2001, five IBL seasons with Anzio and three with Nettuno. In 358 games in his Italian career he batted .319 (OBP .429/SLG .446) with 23 homeruns, 220 runs and 214 RBI. The Warriors hope to profit from his experience and count on him as designated hitter and backup infielder.

Medoro is 21 years old began his Baseball career at the age of eight, winning seven national titles as a youth player. With Nettuno he got his first cup of coffee in the IBL in the past two seasons. In 19 games, mostly as a defensive replacement, he collected three hits in 27 at-bats. He also spent three years with the Baseball Academy in Tirrenia and was a member of various youth national teams.
