Qualifier European Cup Solingen: Final Day, June 4

Posted on June 4, 2011 by philipp

KNTU Elizavetgrad – Solingen Alligators 2-7

Box score

Chris Beck and Phil Ortez each went 4-for-6 with two RBI to lead the Solingen Alligators to a 7-2 win over KNTU Elizavetgrad. With the victory Solingen also swept the best-of-three final series 2-0, also thanks to a 10-0 shutout in eight innings on Thursday. The Alligators already had won the Qualifier in Solingen last year, but later lost in the European Cup Playoff in Rouen. On Saturday the German northern division team decided the outcome fast, scoring six of the seven runs in the first three frames for a commanding lead. Andre Hughes (W) struck out nine batters in 7 2/3 innings, allowing four hits, two runs (1 ER) and three bb. Konstyantyn Korolev (L) surrendered 13 hits, six runs (5 ER) and two walks in eight innings.
