Prospects in 2010 – Matej Hejma – GCL Twins

Like last year we’re taking a look back at the performances by the Europeans who played in affiliated minor league ball in the United States in 2010.

Birth date: 05/04/1990 in Prague, Czech Republic

Position: Outfield

2010 Season: In his second professional season Matej Hejma returned to the Gulf Coast League playing to the Minnesota Twins affiliate in the Rookie circuit. He batted .306 (OBP .371/SLG .452) with his first homerun of his minor league career, six doubles, twelve runs scored and seven RBI. After finishing the season in Florida he joined his home town club Eagles Prague for seven games and went 9-for-25 with three homeruns, five runs and seven RBI in seven games. The 20-year-old extended his baseball year even further, joining the Czech national team for the Intercontinental Cup, where he collected seven hits in 20 at-bats, including a triple.
