After De Angelis Godo and the Catania Warriors are having a difficult offseason off the field, a third Italian Baseball League club is also apparently not in a right state of mind. According to a report by Baseball.it the Grosseto Orioles are having some problems. The front office seemed to be in a turmoil and a special three-hour meeting between chairman Roberto Baricci, president Roberto Ferri and general manager Giuseppe Retali was needed on Thursday to avoid further consequences besides the resignation of vice president Mario Mazzei.
Additionally the future of the support by main sponsor Monte dei Paschi di Siena is in doubt. Grosseto is already looking for another sponsor. It is not clear if the bank will end the partnership altogether or if they simply will hand out less money. The front office will meet on Tuesday and Wednesday with a press conference set for Thursday. The Orioles already are expected to add catcher Manuel Gasparri and infielders Abraham Nunez and Daniel Bittar to the roster. Leonardo Mazzanti and Alessandro Vaglio were confirmed. Gabriele Ermini and Andrea Sgnaolin want to stay, but they haven’t reached an agreement yet.
