Preview: Disciples, Tornados battle for Playoffs in South

Posted on May 18, 2012 by philipp

The ninth game day will be played in the German Baseball-Bundesliga this weekend. Probably the most crucial matchup on paper is going to be the duel between the Haar Disciples and Mannheim Tornados on Saturday in the southern division. Five teams are battling for the playoffs with Haar, Mannheim and Mainz being on the brink. The Athletics open the schedule on Friday night with a matchup against the Stuttgart Reds. On Sunday the Bad Homburg Hornets and Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg conclude the game day in the south.

In the north leader Solingen Alligators hope to avoid any surprises while traveling to the HSV Stealers, which stunned the Untouchables Paderborn last week. The U’s host the Cologne Cardinals, trying to solidify second place in the standings. Both teams will meet again next week, making up an earlier rainout. Also the Berlin Sluggers take on the Dortmund Wanderers and on Sunday the Bonn Capitals square off with the Dohren Wild Farmers.

Schedule:
Friday, May 18:
19:00 Mainz – Stuttgart
Saturday, May 19:
