Preview: Big Game Day for Top 4 in Spanish Division de Honor

Posted on March 25, 2011March 24, 2011 by philipp

One week after the Astros Valencia moved into a tie for first place with two shutouts over CB Sant Boi they will face another test if they really have a shot at the championship in the Spanish Division de Honor. The Tenerife Marlins Puerto Cruz will come to town for a doubleheader on Saturday. Trevor Caughey, Bobby Carrington and Pedro Pablo Belmonte will take the mound for the Astros, facing Miguel Rizo, Leslie Nacar and Yoel Hernandez on the Marlins side.

But this matchup is not enough, as the other championship favorites from Catalonia will meet too, as the FC Barcelona hosts CB Sant Boi. Last year Sant Boi won all four games to clinch the title. However Barcelona showed during the preseason that they can beat CB. Ricardo Hernandez, Jason Friedman and Jorge Balboa are expected to share the main workload as pitchers for Barca, Eliezer Garcia and Lowin Sacramento for Sant Boi. You can follow the two-game series via live by play on the competition website of the Spanish Federation.

In other matchups San Inazio Bilbao takes on the Sevilla Red Sox, CB Viladecans squares off with Baseball Navarra and CD Pamplona plays against Halcones de Vigo.
