Lino Ceccarini is the new president of the Italian Baseball League club DE ANGELIS GODO. He succeeds Roberto Saporetti at the top of the organization, who steps back after 29 years in this position. This reports Filippo Fantasia on Baseball.it.
In addition GODO confirmed that shortstop David Skrehot is leaving the team. Due to family reasons he will stay in the United States next year and isn’t coming back to Italy. Skrehot batted .235 (OBP .311/SLG .318) with three homeruns, 21 runs scored and 22 RBI in 42 games for the seventh ranked club in the country this year. Team manager Vincenzo Mignola is looking for an Italian replacement to fill a foreign spot on the roster with a pitcher to strengthen the defense as well.
Manager Maurizio Zoli can count on the return of hurlers Daniele Del Bianco and Lino Luciani. Both were confirmed by the team management for the 2009 season. Del Bianco appeared in ten games, posting a 0-4 record with an ERA of 8.10 and eleven strikeouts (15 walks) in 23 1/3 innings. Luciani was part of the starting rotation, going 0-7 in 14 games (ten starts). He had an ERA of 7.04 with 28 strikeouts and 28 base on balls in 62.2 innings pitched.
