Team USA and Canada held training camps in Arizona this past week, preparing for the upcoming Premier12. The two North American powerhouses also played a three-game series.
On Saturday the two teams settled for a 2-2 tie. Kellin Deglan and Skyler Stromsmoe put Canada up in front 2-0 in the second. The United States tied the game on RBI singles by Tyler Pastornicky and Jacob May in the second and seventh.
One day later Team USA prevailed 2-0 with Aaron Laffey and Anthony Vasquez pitching three scoreless innings apiece. Elliot Soto plated both runs with a two-run single.
On Monday they concluded their three-game set with a 3-3 tie. Canada struck early taking a lead in the first, but didn’t manage a hit after the second. After the ninth with the score tied at 1-1 both teams used the extra inning rule with both teams scoring twice en route to the final score.
Canada is placed in Group A at the Premier12 with Italy, Netherlands, Chinese Taipei, Puerto Rico and Cuba. The United States face Japan, Dominican Republic, Korea, Venezuela and Mexico in Group B. The Premier12 starts next Sunday.
