Prior to the Premier12 Cuba and South Korea met for a two-game series at the new dome in Seoul to finish their preparations, splitting the two games. It was their first matchups since the 2008 Olympics Gold Medal Game. On Monday South Korea in the quarterfinals at the Premier12 scored five runs in the second on their way to a 7-2 win and into the semi-finals.
Euji Yang led the Korean offense by going 3-for-3 with a solo home run, two runs scored and two RBI. Cuba scored their only two runs in the fifth. Manager Victor Mesa tried every trick in the book including using nine pitchers in the game and a couple of pinch hitters. But it was not enough to turn the contest around.
