Japan has won the bronze medal at the inaugural edition of the Premier12. On Saturday afternoon at the Tokyo Dome Samurai Japan blew out Mexico 11-1 in seven innings to finish in third place in the final standings. Seven runs in the second gave Nippon an 8-0 lead en route to an easy victory. Team USA and South Korea will play in the Gold Medal Game later today.
Tetsuto Yamada, Sho Nakata and Nobuhiro Matsuda highlighted the big rally with three two-run home runs. Yamada finished the game with three RBI. Akira Nakamura had three hits. Juan Perez hit a solo home run in the sixth to account for the lone run for Mexico. Tomoyuki Sugano got the win in relief. Miguel Pena got charged with the loss.
