While the season in Europe is nearing the end, Major League Baseball is about to start into the postseason. In the American League defending World Series Champion New York Yankees, the Tampa Bay Rays, the Minnesota Twins and the Texas Rangers have qualified for the Division Series. In the National League the Philadelphia Phillies, Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds and San Francisco Giants will battle for the pennant.
European Baseball is probably not playing any role this October. Roger Bernadina (Washington Nationals), Kenley Jansen (Los Angeles Dodgers), Andruw Jones (Chicago White Sox), Gregory Halman (Seattle Mariners) and Rick van den Hurk (Baltimore Orioles) were eliminated with their respective teams in the regular season. Jair Jurrjens (Atlanta Braves) will not be a starting pitcher in the NLDS against the Giants, but will stay in shape in case he is needed later this fall. He was sent to the Instructional League in Florida to get some work in.
