The top three teams in Polish baseball are beginning to pull away from the pack, with Kutno, Rybnik, and Wroclaw all sweeping Sunday doubleheaders. Each has won at least four games in a row, with the Steel from Kutno undefeated in all eight games this year, outscoring opponents at an almost 12-1 rate.
Week 5 was another jaunt for Kutno, which romped past mid-table Warszawa 19-2 and 12-0. Those losses, combined with easy 13-4 and 14-2 victories for Wroclaw drop the Centaurs to fourth after five straight losses. Wroclaw has headed the opposite directions, using a four-game winning streak to move into third with games against Kutno already in their rear-view mirror.
In second place is Silesia Rybnik, now on a six-game winning streak following 7-1 and 10-0 decisions against visiting Żory. Although the Week 6 schedule has not been announced, every team has now been scheduled to play all of the other clubs in the top Polish baseball league, although one weekend was postponed. This appears to indicate that the first round of play has concluded in the Ekstraliga.
