The 26th Annual Easter Weekend International Youth Baseball Tournament will be held in Pineuilh, France, April 23 – 25, 2011. This tournament has hosted baseball clubs from all over the world. This year Canada, Saint Martin (Caribbean), Spain, Italy and Pakistan are expected to send teams and registration is still open.
Pineuilh is a small town on the Dordogne River 70 kilometers east of Bordeaux. It is between the wine growing areas of Saint Emilion, Pomerol and Côtes du Castillon and the Perigord region of France, noted for its fine food. This small town has been the home of one of the most competitive and successful baseball clubs in France. This is the 26th consecutive annual tournament.
Teams competing are in the “cadets” division (players born in 1995, 1996 or 1997) or the “minimes” division (players born in 1998, 1999 or 2000).
Last year’s tournament drew nine “cadet” teams and seven “minime” teams. The French national umpires association sends top level umpires and trainers to this annual event. The French national scoring commission qualifies new scorers during the competitions.
Each visiting team is encouraged to bring an umpire who will be welcomed, lodged, trained and managed by the technical committee. Bus drivers are lodged free of charge. Registration is still open.
