The Perth Heat has won game one of the preliminary final in the Australian Baseball League on Friday. They defeated the Sydney Blue Sox 5-4 thanks to two runs in the top of the eighth. The winner of the series will face the Adelaide Bite in the Championship Series next weekend.

A RBI double by Matt Kennelly tied the game at 4-4. Following an ejection of Kennelly after a strikeout to Brian Pointer, Joey Wong came through with a RBI single to give the Heat the decisive advantage.

Rene Tosoni hit a home run for Perth. David Kandilas drove in two for Sydney. McKenzie Acker picked up the win in relief. Aaron Sockee took the loss.
