Perth Heat win Australian Baseball League 2014/2015

Posted on February 10, 2015 by philipp

The Perth Heat have won their second consecutive Australian Baseball League title. On Sunday they defeated the Adelaide Bite 12-5 to win the best-of-three ABL Championship Series 2-1.

Six quick runs in the first two frames decided the outcome early. Tim Kennelly, Tim Smith and Luke Hughes each hit home runs and combined for eight RBI. Mike McCarthy struck out seven in 3 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win.

It’s the fourth title in five years for the Heat. Perth had tied the series in the tenth inning on Saturday to force a decisive game three. Adelaide had won the regular season to clinch a finals berth. Perth had defeated the Sydney Blue Sox en route to the finals.
