From October 28 to November 28 readers of our partner website Baseball.it could vote for the best players in the Italian Baseball League. On Thursday the winners of the Baseball.it All Star Awards, which are officially recognized by the Italian Baseball and Softball Federation (FIBS), were announced. The prizes will be handed out during the Gala dei Diamante in Parma on December 8th.
A total of 920 people casted a vote during the 11th edition of the annual elections, a plus by 50 percent in comparison to last year. New Italian Baseball League title holder Cariparma Parma is the big winner with ten awards. Fortitudo Bologna and T&A San Marino follow with three apiece. These are the winners:
- Most Valuable Player: Orlando Munoz (Parma)
- Manager of the Year: Gilberto Gerali (Parma)
- Pitcher Overall: Marco Grifantini (Parma)
- Reliever: Marco Grifantini (Parma)
- Pitcher ASI/Non ASI: Roberto Corradini (Parma)
- Foreign Pitcher: Jesus Matos (Bologna)
- Catcher: Juan Pablo Angrisano (Bologna)
- First Base: Jairo Ramos Gizzi (Bologna)
- Second Base: Davide Dallospedale (Parma)
- Third Base: Orlando Munoz (Parma)
- Shortstop: Marco Yepez (Parma)
