Posted on October 30, 2012 by philipp

After the departure of Jeff Stoeckel who got married and returned to the United States, French record champion Paris UC introduced a new head coach. Former minor leaguer Kieran Mattison is going to take over at the helm for the 2013 season in the French Division I.

The 32-year-old is a nine-year veteran in professional baseball. He pitched for the Kansas City Royals, Cleveland Indians and Los Angeles Dodgers organizations, reaching Triple-A. Additionally he spent time with Independent League teams. Overall he had a 4.12 ERA in professional baseball.

The Californian Mattison, who attended East Carolina University, also spent some time in the Chinese Professional Baseball League. He is currently coaching youth baseball in Texas. Fred Mouchet will serve as assistant coach at PUC.

Meanwhile two former players will coach the PUC 2 team in the French Division 3. Jean Baptiste Meunier led PUC to their last French championship in 2000, while Farouk Messagier won the bronze medal with France at the 1999 European Championship.
