Paris UC (6-0) continued its strong start to the season after back-to-back wins last Sunday against the Savigny Lions. In game 1, Paris UC was led by a strong pitching performance from starter James MURREY (6.0 innings, 1 earned run, 8 Ks and 1 BB) whose only blemish came on a 1-2 fastball that was hit over the fence by Savigny infielder Florian PEYRICHOU. After MURREY exited the game after going over 100 pitches for the first time this season, he was relieved by Will MUSSON, who struggled a bit, but finally secured the win for Paris UC. Offensively, Douglas RODRIGUEZ proved his hot start has been no fluke by collecting 3 more hits to add to his total, while tallying 3 more RBIs in the game thanks in part to a 3rd inning homerun. In the end, Paris UC locked up the first victory of the day by a score of 8-5.
In game 2, RODRIGUEZ proved he can do more than just swing the bat and backed up his offensive performance from game 1 by tossing a gem in game 2 (6.0 innings, 3 hits, 1 earned run and 2 Ks). In relief, Fred MOUCHET nailed the door shut on Savigny by throwing 3 innings of scoreless relief despite giving up 4 hits and allowing 2 free passes to first. Paris UC utility man Will MUSSON had the offensive performance of the game, going 4-4 (5-5 on the day) with 3 RBIs to erase any hopes of a Savigny split. In all, the Paris UC offense pounded out 11 hits and drew 7 walks to win the game by a score of 8-1.
