Sixteen-year-old middle infielder Darrion Richards of the Untouchables Paderborn has worked out in front of New York Yankees scouts, the Bundesliga North club has announced.
Richards appeared in seven early-season games for the Untouchables in the Bundesliga this season, compiling a .235/.381/.235 slash line in 22 plate appearances. He struck out six times, with four walks to his name.
At the youth level, Richards has impressed with solid defense at shortstop, with a strong arm and quick bat to boot.
Paderborn’s academy, currently led by Alper Bozkurt, has produced two previous MLB signings: Nadir Ljatifi (Cincinnati Reds) and Marco Cardoso (Boston Red Sox).
