Outfielder Pedro Mendez leaves El Llano for Godo

The Italian Baseball League club DE ANGELIS GODO announced this week that they have reached an agreement with outfielder and leadoff hitter Pedro Mendez. The Cuban with Spanish passport played the past four seasons in the Spanish Division de Honor and also was a member of the Spanish National Team at the 2007 Baseball World Cup in Taiwan. In 2008 Mendez played for EL LLANO and batted .356 (OBP .452/SLG .396) with four doubles, 27 runs scored and twelve RBI in 28 games. He also stole nine bases for the 20-12 club.

GODO also mentioned in the press release that fellow new players Felix Escalona and Danny Forte arrived in Italy this week and will make their debut in the preseason match on Saturday against FORTITUDO BOLOGNA. They also still looking for a foreign starting pitcher to complete the roster for the upcoming season in the IBL.
