Outfielder Mike Lockwood to De Angelis Godo?

Posted on February 10, 2008 by philipp

We do not have a confirmation yet. But is seems that outfielder Mike LOCKWOOD could sign with De Angelis Godo of the Italian Baseball League.

He was born on December 27, 1976 in Columbus, Ohio. He went to Worthington Kilbourne High School and later to Ohio State University. He was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 23rd round of the 1999 amateur draft. The two time Big Time Conference Allstar was traded to the Boston Red Sox in 2004 and was released after the 2005 season. He appeared in 794 minor league games as high as Triple A. He had a combined batting average of .274 (OBP .351/SLG .410). He reached the higher levels pretty fast but his performance dropped over the years.

During the past two seasons LOCKWOOD played for Somerset in the Atlantic League. He showed some power last year with 23 home runs. He hit .278 (.365/.474), scoring 90 runs and driving in 92 in 121 games.
