The 2007 Italian champion BBC Monte Paschi Grosseto introduced their first new player for the next season, Outfielder Lorenzo AVAGNINA, last Sunday. He played last season for Avigliana, which finished with an 8-34 record in last place after the regular season. The 27-year-old hit .268 with three homeruns, five doubles, twelve runs and 18 RBI. He played mostly in the outfield. But he can also pitch. He posted an 11-3 record with a 3.34 ERA in 2006 in the Serie A2 (second division in Italy). AVAGNINA signed for three years. He will be playing for the national team as well next month at the World Cup in Taipei.
