Orlando Munoz retires from active playing Career



The Venezuelan Orlando Munoz, who played for the Italian Baseball League club CARIPARMA in 2009, has retired. On Tuesday he played his last and 637th game of his active career for Aguilas del Zulia in the Venezuelan Winter League and now will become a manager in the Venezuelan Liga Paralela.

Munoz, who was born on May 7th, 1971 in Caracas, played minor league ball in the California Angels organization from 1989 to 1995, including two seasons at Triple-A. In 1997 he came to Modena, Italy, where he stayed until the 2006 season. In 2007 he joined the club in Parma. This year he batted .287 (OBP .360/SLG .325) with 17 runs scored and 23 RBI.
