Actually the ORKAS got off to a great start into their game against the RAYS, scoring two runs in the top of the first. However the Major League affiliate countered with three runs in the bottom of the frame and answered the tying run by the ALB in the third with another three-run rally. The Europeans tried to come back in the end, but the three runs in the seventh and eighth period were too little too late to turn the score into their favor.
Shortstop David Rivas led the ORKAS with four hits, a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. Catcher David Nino doubled twice scored once and drove in a run. Emilio Linarez and Gabriel Montero also added to their RBI totals.
Brian Sewell (L 0-1) got the start, but managed only two outs in the first inning, before being replaced after one hit, three unearned runs and a walk. He struck out one. Kevin Alarcon relieved him and gave up six hits, four runs (2 ER) and a base on balls in 4 1/3 innings, striking out five. Steven Van Groningen pitched two scoreless innings later in the game. Yulman Ribeiro closed it out with a perfect eighth.
